The Energy Africa in 2050 A study conducted under the direction of Jean-Pierre Favennec In collaboration with: Christèle Adedjoumon Bernard Duhamel, Jacques Giri, Henri Gilles, Alain Tronche
Abstract: Compared to its demographic weight Africa consumes little power. Indeed, sub-Saharan Africa, the consumption per capita per year (excluding South Africa) is about 100 kilograms of oil equivalent cons 8000 U.S. and 4000 in OECD countries. This situation is both cause and consequence of low economic development. Over 60% of Africa's population lives on less than $ 2 per day and over 60% of Africa's population lacks access to commercial energy and must settle for firewood. Eventually, the projected increases in population and improving living standards will result in increased energy needs.energie-en-africa-horizon-2050.pdf
