Venturi to Launch Mission Africa Drive by Electric Car

March 19, 2012

"FROM SHANGHAI TO PARIS" in an electric car enabled VENTURI to chalk up a world record for distance covered by an electric vehicle without any assistance (13,400 km). This modern-day "Croisère Jaune" owed it to itself to give rise to another challenge, this time on the African continent, in homage to the "Croisière Noire" undertaken by André Citroën, but also in the footsteps of the great explorer, David Livingstone.

"MISSION AFRICA" is a daunting adventure launched by VENTURI, in both technological and human terms: a distance of over 4,800 km on the roads and trails of Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa in an electric vehicle. It will be the first electric car to undertake such a "green journey" across the African continent without the slightest assistance.

The vehicle and all information regarding this new mission will be unveiled on www.missionafrica.fr as well as at the Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies Show of Monaco (EVER) starting on March 22, 2012.

The "VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES" consist of a series of technological, but also human, challenges through which VENTURI intends to demonstrate its progress in the field of electric propulsion. Taking the form of a specific mission, each challenge is held on a different continent and enables the company to set new records while demonstrating the reliability, energy efficiency and robustness of VENTURI electric vehicles under extreme conditions.

For more than a decade, VENTURI AUTOMOBILES has pursued a policy of spearhead innovation in the field of electric vehicles. Mastering the most advanced technological solutions in its sector, VENTURI's expertise ranges from urban vehicles to high-performance cars.
