Ghana: After the strike

September 24, 2014

Nigeria is expected to resume its shipments of gas to Ghana through the West African Gas Pipeline after workers there called off the strike by Nigeria’s oil union NUPENG that led to a cut in supply.

The strike lasted five days before the union called it off.

The suspension was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting with the Nigerian Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke and the management of NNPC.

The unions ordered workers under the employ of NNPC to strike for an indefinite period of time in protest against NNPC’s alleged refusal to address unresolved pension issues.
